More collegiate ski races canceled
HOUGHTON (AP) – A continued lack of snow has forced the rare cancellation of more ski races.
Michigan Tech University announced it canceled U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association regional qualifying events set for Saturday and Sunday in Houghton.
Michigan Tech says it will make a decision later on whether to host the national event.
Northern Michigan had to call off its NMU Wildcat Open set for last weekend. The school’s Nordic ski teams delayed their season opener until the Houghton event, but now – weather permitting – plan to start in early January.
