NMU soccer season ends

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The season came to an end for the Northern Michigan University women’s soccer team at the quarterfinals of the GLIAC tournament on Tuesday afternoon when the Wildcats fell at Ohio Dominican 3-0.

NMU fell behind early when Ohio Dominican’s Courtney Kozak was able to find Lauren Pratt for a goal in the fifth minute of play. The Wildcats would weather the early Panther storm and head into halftime trailing, 1-0.

In the second half, Northern’s Gabriella Garza and Abby Cook both had chances to score but were unable to find the back of net. Ohio Dominican converted two of their scoring opportunities into goals to take a three-goal lead on the Wildcats.

Ohio Dominican held the edge in shots, 15-11, while Northern Michigan had the advantage in corner kicks, 6-5.

NMU ended the season on a 7-3 run since Oct. 2 and qualified as the No. 5 seed in the GLIAC tournament. The Wildcats finished the season with a final record of 7-10 overall and 7-5 in the GLIAC.
