MARQUETTE – Emil Lundgren of Northern Michigan University has been named the GLIAC Men’s Golfer of the Week after placing second at the NCAA Midwest Fall Regional.

Lundgren shot a 145 (73-72) over two rounds at Harborside International in Chicago to finish 1-over par. His second-round 72 was the best posted by any golfer, vaulting him to second from a tie for 36th.

Lundgren finished two strokes shy of the winner, Wisconsin-Parkside’s Kyle Kolberg.

Lundgren was one of three Wildcats to finish in the top 10, joined by Austin Elsner (seventh, 70-78-148) and Cyril Botha (tied 10th, 75-74-149).

Lundgren and the Wildcats return to action in just over a week when they compete at the Lake Superior State University-NMU duel. The invitational begins Saturday, Oct. 10, at Wild Bluff in Brimley and concludes Sunday, Oct. 11, at Greywalls in Marquette.
