Wildcat women spikers blank visiting Lakers
MARQUETTE – Northern Michigan University raised its season record to 9-2 Saturday with a 3-0 GLIAC women’s volleyball victory over visiting Lake Superior State.
The Wildcats of head coach Dominic Yoder posted scores of 25-18, 27-25 and 25-6.
Madison Whitehead helped lead the way with a team-high 13 kills.
Kayla Chosa added seven kills; Jami Hogeboom recorded 34 assists; Alex Berger chipped in 12 assists and four aces; and Lisa Studnicka turned in eight kills and nine digs.
As a team, the Wildcats (1-1 GLIAC) recorded a .337 hitting percentage, its second highest of the season.
The Wildcats limited the Lakers to a .084 hitting percentage, holding them at -.261 in the third set.
For Lake Superior State (0-6, 0-2), Janelle Nagy posted eight kills, 17 assists and seven digs. Jena Tulgestke contributed five kills, as did Brooke Williams
NMU is next scheduled to host Lake Erie at 7 p.m. Friday at Vandament Arena.
They then entertain Ashland (Ohio) at 4 p.m. Saturday.
