MARQUETTE – The Northern Michigan University volleyball team will open GLIAC play this weekend starting tonight with two matches scheduled for Vandament Arena in Marquette.

The Wildcats (8-1) will host Northwood University (2-6) at 7 p.m. today and Lake Superior State (0-4) at 2 p.m. Saturday.

Northwood enters their match on a four-game losing streak. The Timberwolves have posted a .156 hitting percentage and have averaged 11.85 kills, 11.00 assists and 1.35 aces per set.

LSSU, meanwhile, has posted just a .088 hitting percentage. The Lakers have averaged 8.33 kills, .050 blocks and 1.42 aces per set.

NMU’s overall hitting percentage rests at .223, with Alex Berger and Jami Hogeboom leading the team with a percentage of .400. Kayla Chosa and Madison Whitehead also have solid hitting percentages, sitting at .351 and .303, respectively.

The Wildcats have averaged 13.31 kills, 12.40 assists and 1.26 aces per set over the season’s first nine matches.
