NMU men golfers finish second

MARQUETTE – The Northern Michigan men’s golf team took second at the NCAA Midwest Fall Regional after shooting a 599 over two days of competition at the Harborside International in Chicago.

“We played a great round (Tuesday) in a powerful wind and rain that almost won us the tournament,” head coach Kyle Wittenbach said. “We’re happy with second. I’m proud of my guys and their mental strength.”

The Wildcats shot a second-round 305 on the par-72 Port course Tuesday.

On Monday, they sat in a tie for 11th after shooting a 294 on the par-72 Starboard layout.

NMU finished two strokes behind champion Ferris State.
