Goble named GLIAC’s top runner
MARQUETTE – Sarah Goble of Northern Michigan University was named the GLIAC Cross Country Athlete of the Week for her performance at Lake Superior State, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
The freshman posted a time of 19 minutes, 0.62 of a second in the five-kilometer Chris Yanni Memorial Invitational to earn her first collegiate victory, helping the Wildcats win their second team title of the young season.
“She ran a very solid race, working with her teammates throughout and then pulling away right at the end. I’m very proud of her,” NMU head coach Jenny Ryan said.
Goble is the second Wildcat in as many weeks to earn this honor, joining sophomore Kameron Burmeister of Menominee.
