MARQUETTE – Northern Michigan University cross country skier Frederick Schwencke has been named the Student-Athlete Scholar of the Month by the NMU Athletic Council and the Department of Athletics.

He will be honored at an awards ceremony at the Wildcats’ spring football game at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Superior Dome.

The award recognizes outstanding achievement both in academics and in the recipient’s sport.

Schwencke was nominated for the award by professor Olga Herman of the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science.
