NMU’s Mylie makes qualifier jump

DULUTH, Minnesota – Freshman Ine Mylie made an NCAA Indoor Championships qualifying jump for the Northern Michigan University indoor track and field team at the Lake Superior Challenge on Saturday.

Mylie made her qualifying leap in the triple jump with 11.52 meters, or 37 feet, 10 inches, while winning the long jump with a leap of 5.05 meters, or 16-7.

Senior Jasmine King won the 60-meter hurdles in 9.24 seconds while placing third in the long jump with 4.87 meters (16-0).

“We are at the point in the season where all the hard work is starting to show in all the improved performances,” NMU coach Jenny Ryan said.

Senior Larissa Halonen won the mile run in 5:11.74 while freshman teammate Kameron Burmeister was runner-up (5:13.92). Junior Danielle Brzezinski finished first in the 400 (1:01.59), while senior Brittni Wirtz also took the 60 dash in 7.84 seconds.

Other top finishers for NMU included sophomore Avadon James, who finished third in both the 60 and the 200 dashes, and freshman Clara Churchill, who took third in the 800.

Northern’s next indoor meet is Friday and Saturday at Grand Valley State University’s Big Meet.
