Wildcats’ Jaddou honored

MARQUETTE – Northern Michigan University junior linebacker Loran Jaddou was named the NCAA Division II Scholar-Athlete of the Year as part of All-State Dream Team honors at a banquet hosted by the Detroit Free Press in Detroit on Wednesday.

The awards, cosponsored by the National Football Foundation and College Football Hall of Fame, are given out annually to honor the state’s best football players at all levels.

Previously, Jaddou was named to the Capital One Academic All-District Team by College Sports Information Directors of America.

Jaddou, 22, is from the Detroit metro city of Bloomfield and is majoring in psychology at NMU with a 3.98 grade-point average.

He appeared in seven Wildcats games during the 2014 season, recording 29 tackles that included 16 solo hits. He also had an interception late in the fourth quarter against Wayne State that clinched Northern’s 33-30 victory.

The featured speaker at the event was Mike Lodish, a defensive lineman from Birmingham Brother Rice who played 11 seasons in the National Football League, including in a record six Super Bowls with a Denver team that won twice and Buffalo teams that lost four times.
