Abby Koski hits final over-the-fence blast of the regular season in Iron Range Women’s Softball League

NEGAUNEE — Abby Koski hit what is likely to be the last home run over the fence in the regular season to lead Paradise Bar to a 19-8 victory over Palomaki Family Chiropractic in Class C of the Iron Range Women’s Softball League on Wednesday.

The league will hold its annual all-star games, dubbed the Cliff Bressette Memorial and pitting East vs. West, on Wednesday evening at LaCombe Field in Negaunee. The Class C game is at 6 p.m., Class B at 7:30 p.m. and Class A at 8:45 p.m. Included that night will be the presentation of league trophies and the Bev Jackson Memorial Sportsmanship plaques.

League playoffs are scheduled for Friday evening and all day Saturday, though exact times haven’t been announced, at the Ishpeming Ballfield Complex. Dubbed the “Donna Champion-ship,” trophies will be awarded in classes B and C as Class A won’t have a playoff.

In Wednesday’s Paradise Bar win, Koski finished with a pair of homers as she and teammate Amber Nault both were 4 for 5. Also for the winners, Bre Giotto, who homered, and Riley Nault were each 3 for 4, while Rachel Hytinen tripled.

For Palomaki, Madison Pruett and Mallory Schank both were 3 for 3 with a triple.

Also in Class C, Jess Taylor was 2 for 2 with a homer and Nichole Treloar 3 for 3 to support winning pitcher Elaina Treloar as the Eagles cranked out a 30-8 win over U.P. Fabricating, whose Brianna Salmela was 3 for 3 with a double and Cora Loubser was 2 for 2.

Livvie Wood and Chelsea Roberts each went 4 for 4 to lead Pineshears to an 11-3 victory over Willey’s Tire Shop, which got 3-for-3 days from Amy Williams and Monica Cox.

In Class B, Annie Bjork tripled to lead Jasper Ridge Brewery to a narrow 18-17 victory over Globe Printing, whose Trish Anderson and Casey Dugan also hit triples.

Jamee Gobert hit for the cycle and Andria Corcoran homered and doubled to lead Dave’s Collision to an 18-13 win over Jack’s Teepee, which got a double and triple from Jordann Grigg and defensively, two catches at home plate by Halie LeSage.

LeAnn Saarela collected four hits, including a homer, to help Jasper Ridge Brewery to a 22-4 win over Venice-Hickey’s.

The winners’ Megan McIntyre, who homered, and Ciara Kangas, who tripled, each had three hits, while V-H’s Jen Laurila tripled.

Bethany Firby homered and Bree Ranta tripled to lead Martin Sports to a 22-10 win over Globe Printing, which saw Sarah Boogren go 3 for 3 with a double.

Michelle Gray and Lexi Pomplun both doubled to pace 906 Sports Bar to an 8-3 victory over Pasquali’s, whose Jess Geist was 3 for 4 with a triple.

Signs Unlimited downed Quality Car Care 22-5.

In Class A, Buck’s Party Store recorded a 20-14 win over Tino’s despite the vanquished’s Sarah Massie and Taryn Moyle homering.

Screened Image-Venice 2 took a 22-7 win over Buster’s, while Heritage Glove Repair had a bye.
