Cassy Sandberg, Ashley Maki pace Heritage Glove Repair in Iron Range Women’s Softball League victory over Buck’s Party Store

NEGAUNEE — Ashley Maki and Cassy Sandberg had big hitting days to lead Heritage Glove Repair to a 13-2 victory over Buck’s Party Store in the Class A division of the Iron Range Women’s Softball League on June 23.

Maki was 4 for 4 and Sandberg 4 for 5, each hitting a home run. Teammate Britney Rovelsky was also 3 for 4.

Buck’s Nikki Schultz hit a pair of doubles while Nikki Christensen was 2 for 4.

In another “A” game, Shana Caliguri homered as Tino’s blitzed Buster’s 11-3.

Screened Image-Venice 2 had the bye.

In Class B, Marissa Carello homered and Adrienne Suardini was cited for her play at shortstop as Jack’s Teepee got by with a razor-thin 16-15 win over 906 Sports Bar, whose Vanessa Briones tripled.

Also in “B,” Amy Young tripled in Quality Car Care’s 11-9 win over Venice-Hickey’s, whose Caylie Gray doubled.

Cassidy Kruger tripled in Globe Printing’s 11-8 victory over Dave’s Collision, whose Libbie Doney homered.

Megan McIntire was 4 for 4 with a homer as Jasper Ridge Brewery downed Pasquali’s 21-5. The winners’ Alexxus Taavola and Pasquali’s Jess Geist each were 3 for 3, while Pasquali’s Jordan Fitzpatrick tripled.

Becca LaChapelle tripled as Signs Unlimited outscored Martin Sports 25-14. Martin’s Bree Ranta was 4 for 4 while Hannah Salmi homered.

In Class C, Toni Tikkanen, Livvie Wood and Chelsea Roberts all went 6 for 6 with extra-base power as Pineshears held off U.P. Fabricating 23-17. Tikkanen hit a pair of triples, Wood a triple and double and Roberts a triple.

U.P. Fabricating’s Emily Richards was 5 for 5.

In another “C” contest, Caitlin Hewitt, Brooke Mitchell, Miranda Cobb and Amy Williams all homered as Willey’s Tire Shop posted a 27-15 win over Palomaki Family Chiropractic, whose Jenn Quayle and Katie Trudgeon each were 4 for 4. Quayle included a homer among her hits.

Hailey Hytinen was 5 for 5 and Abby Koski 4 for 5 as Paradise Bar ran by Eagles 22-7. Hytinen, Koski and the Eagles’ Micailley Carlson and Nancy Laine each hit a homer.
