MTU announces golf scramble

HOUGHTON — The Michigan Tech women’s basketball team will host its annual golf tournament on Saturday, June 5 at Portage Lake Golf Course.

Registration for the tournament begins at 9 a.m. with a 10 a.m. shotgun start. This year’s event is sponsored by Ted Simonsen and Ameriprise Financial.

The format for the tournament is a four-person 18-hole scramble with all participants receiving 18 holes of golf, cart, registration gift, lunch, and dinner appetizers. Prizes are awarded for flight and contest winners and Husky basketball (defending GLIAC Champion) players will be on hand to visit with participants on the course. The cost to play is $340 per team or $440 per team which includes a hole sponsorship.

“We would like to invite you to join MTU women’s basketball’s sixth annual golf scramble,” said head coach Sam Hoyt in a news release. “Money raised will benefit the women’s basketball program. We very much look forward to seeing you there and thank you for your support.”

For those interested in supporting the program without playing golf, there are a number of other ways to get involved. See the sponsorship opportunity page on the golf scramble brochure. Teams and dinner guests must RSVP Elisa Jurmu by phone at 906-281-0951 or through email emjurmu@mtu.edu. Make all checks payable to Michigan Tech Women’s Basketball and they can be submitted in advance or on the day of the event.
