MSHS girls soccer beats Sault

MARQUETTE –The Marquette girls varsity soccer team came out on top of Sault Ste. Marie 5-0 Tuesday at home.

Marquette kicked off the scoring with a goal by Paige Britton, assisted by Bella Lorens. Britton added a second goal on a penalty kick. Bella Lorens rounded out scoring in the first half with an assist by Hannah Mason.

Sydney Osborne found the back of the net in the second half off a corner kick by Hattie Britton. Kyla Palomaki added one more with an assist by Paige Britton.

“We just started a new formation and it took us a bit to figure it out, but by the second half they were able to sort it out, linking together passes and getting to the open areas,” said head coach Anna Bauers. “As I told the girls, they made soccer look beautiful. It was a good team win today.”

The win comes off a tough weekend that saw Marquette fall to Boyne City last Friday 6-0, and Heritage High School in Saginaw 4-2.

Marquette, now 3-2-3, was scheduled to take on Charlevoix Wednesday at Kaufman Sports Complex in Marquette.
