Westwood’s Livvie Wood dives for the ball with teammates Katie Wiljanen, left, and Matalynn Nurmi in action during the MHSAA Division 3 district tournament game against Manistique at Westwood High School Wednesday. The Manistique Emeralds were hitting on nearly all cylinders Wednesday night in a 3-0 (25-8, 25-13, 25-12) volleyball victory over the Westwood Patriots in a Division 3 district match. “I thought we played real well tonight,” Emeralds’ coach Amy Nixon told the Escanaba Daily Press. “I think we served pretty consistently and talked well, which allowed our hitters to do their thing. I thought our hitters made good decisions at the net which limited our errors. We really spread it out. Everybody contributed.” Emilee McDaniel recorded 10 kills and four blocks and Jeanni Chartier added nine kills. Joslyn Muth collected 24 assists and Lenna Smith had nine digs for the Emeralds, who host Negaunee in tonight’s title match at 7. (Journal photo by Corey Kelly)
