Carney-Nadeau graduate Hunter Eichhorn 10th at Wisconsin State Amateur Golf Championships

OCONOMOWOC, Wisconsin — Recent Carney-Nadeau High School graduate Hunter Eichhorn climbed into a tie for 10th place at the 117th annual Wisconsin State Amateur Golf Championships in suburban Milwaukee on Thursday.

After finishing the four-day event with a 1-under-par 69, he came in at 283, 10 strokes behind medalist Matt Tolen of Eau Claire and six in back of runner-up Eddie Wajda.

Eicchorn moved up from a tie for 22nd after Wednesday’s third round.

The young golfer was coming off setting the course record off the championship tees at Sweetgrass Golf Club in Harris with 69 on the previous Saturday.

Next up for the Marquette University recruit was a U.S. Amateur qualifier at Watertown, Wisconsin, on Monday. The top two finishers advance to the U.S. Amateur Championships to be held Aug. 14-20 in California.
