Westwood Patriots softball sweeps doubleheader against Manistique Monday

MANISTIQUE — The Westwood Patriots softball team swept Manistique Monday afternoon, 9-7 in the opener and 10-1 in the nightcap.

In the first game, the Patriots were led offensively by Shae Blewett, who went 4 for 4. Raija Stille had three hits for Westwood, while Kimmy Collins had two. Megan Pohlman earned the win in the circle after striking out five.

Renee Schuetter had four hits for the Emeralds and Amanda Menominee picked up four strikeouts in taking the loss.

Westwood pitcher Karlie Patron was the star of the second game. She racked up 14 strikeouts and only gave up two hits. Liz Farley also had a big game as she went 3 for 4 with a 2-run homer.
