Trio of Marquette icers honored
MARQUETTE – A trio of Marquette Senior High School hockey players has been named to the Division 2 All-State team as selected by the Michigan High School Hockey Coaches Association.
Brothers Jake and Joe Phillips made the list, Jake as a First Team forward and Joe as a Second Team forward.
In addition, Marquette’s Justin Moyle was picked as a Second Team defenseman.
All three were instrumental in coach Doug Garrow’s Redmen posting a 22-7 season record and advancing to state quarterfinal play, where they lost to Ada Forest Hills Eastern 2-1 in triple overtime.
Also making All-state in Division 2 were Escanaba’s Calvin Pinar (Second Team defense) and Chris LeMire (Honorable Mention forward).
