HANCOCK – Cody Wickstrom of Marquette recorded a pair of assists in Finlandia University’s 4-3 overtime victory over Lawrence University on Friday.

It was the Lions first win this season, though with a 7-2 win by Lawrence Saturday, Finlandia is now 1-4-3 overall and 1-3-2 in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association.

Wickstrom’s Friday assists came on a go-ahead goal by teammate Thomas Malkmus with 4:07 remaining in the third period, then after Lawrence scored a goal to force the extra period, Wickstrom picked up an assist on the game-winner notched by Bryce Mitzel with 1:08 gone in OT.

Finlandia resumes action at Adrian College on Dec. 4-5. The Lions’ next home game is at 7:15 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 9, against the College of St. Scholastica at the Houghton County Arena in Hancock.
