MTU football, SDC open for public

HOUGHTON – Michigan Tech University has several free athletics-related events open to the public for no charge during the next several days.

The Huskies football team will scrimmage under the lights at 7 p.m. today at Sherman Field. The team began practice Aug. 13 and opens the season on Thursday, Sept. 3, at home against Wayne State.

On Wednesday, a Fall Sports and Fitness Festival will be held at the Student Development Complex from 6-9 p.m. to showcase the university facilities and programs for sports and fitness both to incoming students and area residents.

Prizes such as memberships and locker rentals will be given away and guests can play and interact with MTU student-athletes.

The MacInnes Student Ice Arena will be open for skating, along with the SDC pool and fitness center. Community program sessions will also be available.
