Iron Rangers to hold final tryout

MARQUETTE – The new Marquette Iron Rangers men’s ice hockey team will be holding their final tryout August 29 at 7 p.m.-9 p.m. in the Berry Events Center. The fee is $20.

Rangers general manager Bob Airaudi says that the Rangers already have “plenty” signed on to be members of the team, but anybody who is still interested is urged to come to the tryout.

The Iron Rangers schedule has also been completed and is available at www.theglhl.com. Marquette opens its inaugural season Oct. 23 with a four-team series in Fond du Lac, Wis. The Rangers play the Calumet Wolverines at 8 p.m. at the Fond du Lac Blue Line Center Olympic.

Marquette’s first home game is Friday, Nov. 6 against Calumet at 7 p.m. at Lakeview Arena. On Nov. 7, the famous Carlson Brothers, better-known as the Hanson brothers from the movie “Slap Shot”, will be at the Rangers game against the Portage Lake Pioneers. The Carlsons used to play for the Rangers and will have their jersey numbers retired at the game. The game starts at 7 p.m. at Lakeview Arena.

Airaudi also says that the team will have its own website soon as well as an online store.
