ESCANABA – Escanaba captured the Little League District 10 baseball title for ages 10-11 on Tuesday with a 12-5 victory over Norway in Escanaba.

The Esky team hosts Marquette in a best-of-three sectional series beginning at 6 p.m. Friday at Dickson Field.

The top four batters in Esky’s lineup – Stephen Weinert, Jayger LaMarch, Nathan Howes and Ayden Mylander – had eight of their team’s 11 hits in the title-clinching game against Norway.

LaMarch and Mylander had RBIs early to put Escanaba up 4-2 in the third inning, which it stretched to 8-3 on a LaMarch triple, another Mylander hit and several passed balls an inning later.

Meanwhile, Norway stranded 11 baserunners and had two runners thrown out at the plate.

Four Esky pitchers combined to allow nine hits and five walks while striking out five.
