U.P. all-star football to be aired

MARQUETTE – The Upper Peninsula Football All-Star Game to be played on Saturday, June 27, will be shown live on the Internet and replayed the following day on over-the-air television.

WLUC-TV will livestream the game live at 3 p.m. from the Superior Dome in Marquette, then show it on TV6 at 11 a.m. on Sunday, according to station general manager Rob Jamros.

The game is in its eighth year since it was restarted to showcase the talents of graduated high school seniors from all areas of the U.P.

“Our players love the exposure and it’s great for people who can’t make it to the game,” said Xcel Sports Training President Todd Goldbeck about the airings, which will feature TV6’s Mike Ludlum and Sunny 102 radio’s Mark Evans as announcers.

The game benefits the Beacon House Food Pantry through food donations and helps fund the U.P. Sports Hall of Fame scholarship program, a U.P. school football team lottery and the Daniel Olson Memorial Scholarship Fund.
