GWINN – Winners were crowned Saturday at the inaugural Big Cup Scramble at the Red Fox Golf Course in Gwinn.

Club pro Dennis Kargela said a total of 48 golfers participated, all using the newly-installed eight-inch cups on each of the course’s greens.

The team of Martin Ghiardi, Kay Ghiardi, Jason Ghiardi and Kurt Ghiardi – all from Gwinn – took the Mixed Division with a 16-under-par 54. Tyler Hinkson, Carly Saint Onge, Austin Gauthier and Nick Mewbourn placed second with a 55.

In the Men’s Division, Denny McAllister, Jeff Werner, Andy LaBarbera and Dave Wernicke from Pound, Wisconsin, carded a 54 to take top honors. Placing second were Jim Picotte, George Gager, Buryl Smith and Jason Ghiringhelli with a 60, while Andy Pool, Dean Norden, Nick Smaby and Paul Grobar were third with a 62.

Red Fox Run is scheduled to hold another Big Cup Scramble on Sept. 19, Kargela said.
