NMU diving: Garris, Textor lead Wildcats at Wayne state

DETROIT – The Northern Michigan University divers competed against Wayne State University on Saturday at the Matthaei Natatorium in Detroit. Each diver had 11 attempts in both the 1-meter and 3-meter events.

“Competing against Wayne State started out difficult for all of us, but we overcame those obstacles as a team,” NMU freshman Karson Textor said. “It was a nice experience to do 11 dives like we will do at conference, and we all now feel more prepared for the conference meet.”

Each NMU diver competing in the 1-meter event recorded personal bests. Junior Sophia Garris scored the highest for the Wildcats in the 1 meter with a score of 365.90. Textor finished with 349.50 points and freshman Julia Mead had 293.70.

Textor scored 405.90 in the 3-meter dive, followed by a personal best from Garris with a score of 379.85. Mead finished with 297.45 points.
