MARQUETTE — Seiler Hruska of Marquette Senior High School is one of six high school volleyball players statewide, and only one of two from the Upper Peninsula, who have been awarded a scholarship from the Michigan Interscholastic Volleyball Coaches Association.

Hruska, a senior outside hitter, earned the scholarship as a student volleyball player who demonstrates leadership, character and outstanding academic performance throughout her high school career.

The other U.P. scholar was Elizabeth Storey from Pickford.

Last fall, Hruska was honored with a Best & Brightest Award from the American Volleyball Coaches Association for having an unweighted 3.0 or weighted 3.5 grade-point average during their junior years while also playing in at least 50% of their team’s sets as a senior.

Hruska also attained 1,000 kills as a varsity volleyball player early in her junior season in 2020 and 1,000 digs in late October last fall.
