MARQUETTE — The CCHA announced Monday that the Northern Michigan University-Michigan Tech hockey series postponed from last weekend will be made up on the next two Tuesdays.

The teams’ traditional home-and-home series was supposed to be played in Marquette on Friday and Houghton on Saturday before the opener was moved to Sunday, still in Marquette.

Finally, the teams and the league had to call off the whole series due to health and safety concerns in the Wildcats’ program.

Now the Huskies will host NMU next Tuesday at 6:07 p.m. at the John MacInnes Student Ice Arena, while Northern will entertain Tech on Feb. 8 at 6:37 p.m. at the Berry Events Center in Marquette.

As usual for NMU games, they will be broadcast on radio station WUPT 100.3 FM The Point and will remain on television, too. Next Tuesday’s contest will be shown on WLUC-TV6 and the Feb. 8 game on Fox-U.P. They will also be streamed live via CCHA TV on www.FloHockey.tv.

Tickets purchased for the games on the original dates will be transferred to the new dates. Refunds will be honored up to 24 hours prior to the start of the newly scheduled game.

For ticket info at NMU, call 227-1032 or email tickets@nmu.edu, and for the same info at Michigan Tech, call 487-2073 or email tickets@mtu.edu.

Moving these games to midweek allowed both schools to keep the rest of their schedules intact. While the Wildcats have an off weekend on Feb. 11-12 — actually the weekend after the second Tech makeup game — the Huskies have full weekends with CCHA games through the rest of the regular season.

The regular season ends Feb. 25-26 with the league playoffs commencing the following weekend, March 4-6.

Starting this Friday, the Wildcats will now play six games in 12 days, then have 10 days without playing because of their off weekend.

MTU will be even busier, playing eight games in 16 days.
