Marquette 3, Gladstone 0

On Tuesday at Marquette, the Redettes prevailed 25-14, 25-14, 25-17 to improve to 6-0 in the Great Northern Conference and 30-5-1 overall.

MSHS also celebrated nine seniors as their high school careers will soon come to a close, including fourth-year varsity player Seiler Hruska and third-year varsity player Maria Millado, the rest spending two years on varsity.

“Tonight we celebrated our nine amazing seniors and what they’ve brought to this program,” Marquette head coach Ann Crandell-Williams said. “When they are on their game, what they can do is truly amazing to watch.

“In addition to their skill, they are hard workers, have great attitudes, are coachable and are loyal team players, not to mention incredibly fun to be around.

“I love that while we have two regular court leaders in Seiler and Maria, the rest of the team has really improved in their consistency and ability to carry the load. Tonight was no exception.”

Millado led the Redette attack with 14 kills, and with just one error had a near-perfect .867 attack percentage. She added three digs and a team-high two blocks.

Hruska was pretty good, too, with eight kills and a .417 attack percentage, also contributing a team-high six digs to go with two service aces.

Arlie Kulbieda and Taylor Marquardt each made five kills, Marquardt without an error and a .556 attack percentage.

And Piper Lakenen and Katelyn Dunleavy split setting duties, Lakenen making 16 set assists and Dunleavy 14 as they combined for 30 of the team’s 32 assists. Dunleavy also had a team-high eight aces while Lakenen made five digs.

The Redettes are scheduled to host Calumet at noon Saturday.
