YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — A former Northern Michigan University hockey player has found a new coaching job.

Wildcats winger Andy Contois is now the associate head coach for the USHL’s Youngstown Phantoms. He spent the last two seasons as an assistant coach with the ECHL’s Indy Fuel. Before that, he was an assistant coach with former USHL member Central Illinois Flying Aces and former NAHL franchise Brookings Blizzard. The Blizzard are now the St. Cloud Norsemen.

Contois, 39, played with the Wildcats from 2002-06 after playing a year at Lake Superior State. His best statistical season came during his junior year, when he finished with 19 goals and 36 points. He followed that up with a 16-goal, 31-point campaign his senior season.

He is a 1999 graduate of Marquette Senior High School and played for the Marquette Electricians Midget AAA hockey team in 119 games, scoring 60 goals and totaling 135 points. He also played for Green Bay Gamblers of the USHL following his high school graduation.
