Fans can come back: Northern Michigan University puts hockey season tickets on sale after a year without spectators

MARQUETTE — Northern Michigan University, its athletic depart

ment and the Wildcats hockey team will welcome back fans to the Berry Events Center as the team re-enters the Central Collegiate Hockey Association this season.

While the team and the rest of the WCHA were able to hold a season last year, they couldn’t do so with fans.

Now the Wildcats have announced season ticket packages for the 2021-22 season.

This season, NMU is scheduled to host 22 games, including seven nonconference games and an exhibition against the U.S. National Team Under-18 Development Program based in suburban Detroit.

Northern opens its season with three straight home series, beginning Oct. 8-9 against CCHA newcomer and NCAA Division I’s newest member, the College of St. Thomas of St. Paul, Minnesota.

All home-game starting times are listed at 6:37 p.m., according to NMU’s athletics website, www.nmuwildcats.com.

Season ticket packages are available online at tickets.nmu.edu or at the NMU Ticket Office. For more information, visit online at tickets.nmu.edu or call 227-1032.

Single-game tickets will be available starting Sept. 7, with information available on those later this summer.

There are the Wildcats’ season ticket packages. Prices for senior citizens, military and NMU faculty and staff were listed as “not available”:

Full season — adults, $325; NMU students and youth under 18 years old, $225; NMU students who participate in Athletic Fee program, $80

Friday only or Saturday only (each includes 11 games plus one CCHA playoff game) — adults, $180; NMU students, $120
