NMU’s other win came from freshman Selena Johnson, who leaped 11.75 meters (38 feet, 6.75 inches), a victory of nearly 2 1/2 feet over the runner-up, again from Hillsdale.

The Wildcats had some other high finishes, too, as they were listed as the second-place finisher in the open division with 32 points to Hillsdale’s 46. Western Michigan was third with 25, while Cornerstone and Trine tied for fourth with 15 as 25 women’s teams were listed as earning points.

Little was runner-up in the long jump by leaping 5.57 meters (18-feet-3.25), just an inch behind winner Elizabeth Setsuda of Lake Superior State.

Northern’s 4-by-100 relay, with the same quartet that won the 4-by-200, was second in 48.09 seconds, less than a half-second behind winner Hillsdale.

But an entirely different unit was third in the 4-by-800 — junior Anna Kelley, freshman Anni Skillicorn, junior Chrysanthe Patselas and sophomore Emily Sterling. They clocked 9:54.08, about 20 second behind the winners from Hillsdale and 12 1/2 seconds in back of the runners-up from Trine.

Coming in fourth was junior Madison Campbell in the high jump after she cleared 1.53 meters (5-feet-0.25), while two NMU athletes had fifths — Peterson in the 200 dash in 25.48 seconds and junior Calli Rechsteiner tied for fifth in the pole vault with 3.43 meters (11-feet-3).

Also in the 200, de Mingo Domenech was sixth in 25.79, while also sixth was freshman Sydney Romps in the 400 hurdles in 1:09.45.

Kelley was seventh in the 1,500 in the 4:57.42, while the Wildcats had five eighth-place finishes — senior Nina Augsten in the 100 hurdles in 15.05 and in the javelin throw with 30.88 meters (101-feet-4), Little in the 100 in 12.60, junior Claire Donner in the 400 hurdles in 1:10.85 and freshman Katelyn Antilla in the pole vault with 3.08 meters (10-feet-1.25).

Also cracking the top 10 was Alarie, ninth in the 100 in 12.70 seconds, and senior Ellise Longley, 10th in the 5,000 in 18:05.70.

The Wildcats are headed to a one-day meet, the Grand Valley State Meet, to be held in downstate Allendale on Saturday.
