Northern Michigan University’s Molly Miller named All-American at NCAA Nordic Ski Championship

JACKSON, N.H. — Northern Michigan University Nordic skier Molly Miller earned All-American honors during the opening day of the NCAA Ski Championships held Thursday.

Temperatures were reported probably a bit balmy for skiers in the 50s.

NMU is third in the women’s standings behind only Utah and Alaska-Anchorage, and sixth for the men in the Nordic part of a meet that also includes Alpine skiing. Overall, the Wildcats are in eighth place.

The final day of Nordic action is Saturday with the women’s 15-kilometer freestyle and men’s 20K freestyle.

On Thursday, Miller finished fifth in the women’s 5K classic in 16 minutes, 27.8 seconds. Two of her teammates also broke the top 15, with Hilde Eide 11th in 16:50.2 and Malin Boerjesjoe 15th in 17:19.5.

The Northern men were led by Kjetil Baanerud in 12th in their 10K classic in 27:26.1, followed by Zak Ketterson in 15th in 27:37.5 and Tobias Moosmann in 31st in 29:40.5.
