Northern Michigan University Wildcats’ Elise Longley, Izabelle Peterson win events at Saginaw Valley State Tune-Up track meet

UNIVERSITY CENTER — Northern Michigan University athletes won three events and placed runner-up in three more at the Saginaw Valley State Tune-Up indoor track meet held Friday.

The Wildcats’ Elise Longley accounted for two victories, taking the 800-meter run in 2 minutes, 22.45 seconds and the mile in a personal-best 5:09.62, while NMU sprinter and Marquette Senior High School graduate Izabelle Peterson won the 200-meter dash in 25.53 seconds.

Coming in second was Northern’s Hannah Jones in the 400 in 59.57, teammate Madison Malon in the 3,000 in 10:51.15 and NMU’s Calli Rechsteiner in the pole vault, clearing 3.12 meters (10 feet, 2.75 inches).

Coming in third was Lauren Alarie in the 400 in 1:01.10 and Leah Root in the pole vault in 3.12 meters (10-feet-2.75), while fourth places were picked up by Jovana Vukas in the 400 in a personal-record 1:02.04, Megan Langworthy in the 3,000 in 11:09.37, Maddie Campbell in the high jumped in 1.54 meters (5-feet-0.5) and Mari McClure in the pole vault in 2.97 meters (9-feet-9).

Coming in fifth was Nina Augsten in the 60 hurdles in 9.45 and in the long jump in 4.86 meters (15-feet-11.25), along with Anna Kelley in the mile in 5:24.64.

Other top-10 finishers were turned in by Alarie in the 60, Taylor Foster in the 60 hurdles, Sydney Romps and Claire Donner in the 300, Morgan Lyon and Sydney Ormsbee in the 400, Anna Kelley and Emily Sterling in the 800, Negaunee graduate Talon Prusi in the mile, Chrysanthe Patselas in the 3,000, Katelyn Antilla in the pole vault and Campbell in the long jump and shot put.
