ISHPEMING — Marquette won all but one event in dominating Westwood at a high school swimming and diving dual meet held Wednesday at the Patriots’ pool.

The Redettes won the girls meet 122 1/2-58 1/2, while the Redmen carried the boys meet 150-4.

Westwood’s lone win came in girls’ diving, where Avery Mariuzza won a close race as the top five girls were separated by less than 5 1/2 points. Mariuzza had 180.95 points, just ahead of teammate Jenna Wealton’s 178.75.

Marquette’s Ella Whalen and Grace Sobczak each won four events, Whalen taking the 100-yard backstroke, Sobczak the 200 individual medley and 100 butterfly as each swam with the victorious 200 medley and 200 free relays. Whalen also swam a leg of the winning 400 free relay.

Teammate Lexi LaCombe won three times in the 200 free and with the 200 free and 400 free relays.

The Redettes’ Delany Marchiol, Hannah Winn, Elena Henry and Maddie Wood were all double winners. Marchiol won the 100 breaststroke, Winn the 50 free, Henry the 100 free and Wood the 500 free as Winn and Wood were in the 400 free relay, Marchiol the 200 medley relay and Henry the 200 free relay.

Teammates Kelsey Glover also won once.

In the boys meet, Colin VanderSchaaf and Liam McFarren each won four times.

VanderSchaaf won the 50 free and 500 free and McFarren the 100 free and 100 breast. Both were on the winning 200 medley relay, while VanderSchaaf was with the 400 free relay winners and McFarren the same with the 200 free relay.

Teammate Andrew King tripled up in the 200 free and 200 medley and 400 free relays, while Maverick Baldwin won twice in the 200 medley and 200 free relays.

MSHS’ Andon Buyarski took the 200 IM and Ben Flynn the diving.
