Northern Michigan University Wildcats’ eSports team chalks up another win entering holiday hiatus

MARQUETTE — One of the few Northern Michigan University sports to hold competition this fall, the Wildcats’ eSports team defeated Olivet Nazarene University on Nov. 21 to improve to 3-1 this season.

NMU defeated the Illinois-based university 2-0 in a CSL League of Legends match, according to a sports news release from NMU Sports Information.

The Wildcats dominated the pick and ban phase in Game 1, coming out with strong lane matchups, and through controlled game play posted a 19-3 victory.

Game 2 was much the same, a 22-8 win that took just 23 minutes.

Named most valuable player for both games and the series was Dontae Bailey, known as “NMU Inferno.” He recorded a perfect KDA in Game 1 with a scoreline of 7/0/4, then added a 2/1/13 line in Game 2, making for a total 9/1/17 and 26.0 KDA while leading the team in CS in both games.

This concluded this NMU team’s matches for the fall semester as they are listed on the university schedule as resuming play in mid-January with a match against the University of Wisconsin.
