Negaunee, Gwinn advance in Modeltowners-hosted volleyball district

ISHPEMING — The Negaunee and Gwinn high school volleyball teams posted straight-sets shutouts of their local opposition on Tuesday evening in the semifinals of their MHSAA Division 3 district tournament that is hosted by Gwinn.

While no information was available from the Modeltowners’ home victory over Ishpeming, the Miners posted a 25-14, 25-23, 25-19 victory at Westwood.

Negaunee and Gwinn will tangle for the championship in this all-Marquette County district at 5:30 p.m. today in the Modeltowners’ gym.

On Tuesday, the Miners’ Natalie Bell made 18 kills and three blocks, while teammate Sierra Hendrickson had nine digs and Larissa Anderson four service aces.
