NEGAUNEE — Every set was as close as is possible, but Negaunee still was able to emerge with a three-set victory over Gwinn in a Mid-Peninsula Conference high school volleyball match played at Lakeview Memorial Gym in Negaunee on Thursday.

The Miners emerged victorious 26-24, 28-26, 25-23, while the Negaunee JV won in two straight sets, according to a report from NHS head coach Sarah MacDonald.

In the varsity match, the Miners’ Ada Roulke made nine kills and Natalie Bell eight. Teammate Larissa Anderson added 14 set assists, Allie Ennett had three service aces and Sierra Hendrickson totaled five digs.

Next up on Negaunee’s schedule is a home match against Hancock on Tuesday, though it’s highly in doubt after Houghton County schools canceled classes and sporting events for at least a week.

After that, the Miners are set to play at Kingsford on Thursday.
