The Wildcats women won two events and have 206 1/2 points, while the men have 123 points.

NMU swimmers and divers hit the pool today in the 200-yard freestyle relay, 400 individual medley, 100 butterfly, 200 free, 400 medley relay and men’s one-meter dive.

Margaret Vaitkus

Senior Rachel Helm, a two-time national champion, won the 200 IM in 2 minutes, 3.10 seconds. Freshman teammate Michaela Nelson was runner-up in 2:04.22, while freshman Jenna Joerger was sixth in 2:05.49 and sophomore Briana Arnold eighth in 2:10.46.

Junior Margaret Vaitkus won the 50 free in 23.51 seconds.

Junior Gabriella Spajic was second in the 1,000 free in 10:10.62, while freshman teammate Maria Arakelian finished fourth in 10:17.02.

NMU’s 200 medley relay was third in 1:44.40 with the quartet of Joerger, Helm, freshman Meritxell Font Cantarero and Vaitkus.

Sophomore Mary Grossman was second in 3-meter diving with 441.95 points. Freshman teammate Amanda Baird was fourth with 408.30 and senior Jamie Kimble seventh with 398.60.

Junior Ondrej Zach was second in the 1,000 free in 9:16.82, while NMU’s 200 medley relay was third in 1:29.55 with senior Lajos Budai, freshman Roberto Camera, sophomore Jon Busse and junior Amir Saman Khajegi.

Three NMU men made the top eight in the 200 IM, led by freshman Erikas Kapocius in fifth in 1:50.68. Sophomore Felipe Lemos was sixth in 1:52.60 and senior Jonas Reinhold seventh in 1:53.47.

Budai came in sixth in the 50 free in 20.52.
