Munising girls tripped by Engadine

MUNISING — Not much went right for the Munising girls varsity basketball team on Tuesday night.

The Mustangs suffered their fifth consecutive loss, falling 66-29 to Engadine at home.

Munising fell to 5-9, while the Eagles improved to 8-4.

“We’re turning the ball over way too many times,” Mustangs head coach Matt Mattson said. “We were a little bit careless with passing and had a little lack of focus and concentration catching the ball and meeting with the ball. Lots of fundamental stuff. We need to go back to square one and figure stuff out.”

Crystal Murdock led the Mustangs with 10 points, while Megan Matson had eight. Izzy Kopsi paced the Eagles with 18, while Sophia Vaughn had 17.

Engadine was 27 of 61 from the field to Munising’s dismal 8 of 36.

The Eagles collected 37 rebounds with Kopski grabbing 12. The Mustangs picked up 25 with Murdock notching eight.

Munising visits Brimley on Monday.
