IRON MOUNTAIN — After mopping up at the MHSAA Upper Peninsula Division 2 girls tennis finals, it’s no surprise that Westwood also carted off the biggest and most pieces of hardware when All-U.P. honors were handed out recently.

Patriots senior Madelyn Koski was named the Player of the Year, while her first-year mentor, Sarah Massie, earned Coach of the Year plaudits.

Koski was also named to the All-U.P. First Team in singles, joined by senior teammate Tessa Leece. Sophomore Jillian Koski earned honorable mention in singles, too.

In doubles, the Patriots’ duos of seniors Karlie Patron and Katelyn Anttila, along with senior Meghan Johnson and junior Ellie Miller, were named All-U.P. First Team.

Junior teammates Avery Mariuzza and Emily Nelson were named honorable mention in doubles.

Players from Gwinn, Ishpeming and Munising were also noted.

Modeltowners senior Joleigh Martinez got All-U.P. honors in singles, as did seniors Raina Humphrey and Kadie LaRock in doubles.

Another Gwinn doubles tandem, seniors Karlee Walker and Emily Curtice, earned doubles honorable mention.

From Ishpeming, senior Tia Mattila earned All-U.P. honorable mention in singles while seniors Bailey Peterson and Marissa Neveau did the same in doubles.

Munising also had an All-U.P. honorable mention in singles — sophomore Logan Peters — and doubles — seniors Abbie Hayes and Makayla McNally.
