RUDYARD — Friday night started with two eight-player football teams looking to get back to the .500 mark as the Superior Central Cougars paid a visit to the Rudyard Bulldogs in a Great Lakes 8 Conference game.

When the mud settled, the Bulldogs hung a 46-0 shutout on the Cougars and reached their goal.

“We have been battling injuries over the past few weeks,” Cougars coach Sam Eggleston said. “And that showed up tonight. We have gone from almost an all-pass offense to a team that has to run the ball more, and we are still adjusting to that.”

“We have a lot of good kids. They have a lot of fight in them and they don’t quit.”

The Bulldogs jumped on the visitors early as they opened with an onside kick, recovering the ball on their own 47-yard line. From there, the ‘Dogs marched downfield in 10 plays, capping things off with a E.J. Suggitt touchdown pass to Tate Besteman for a 7-yard scoring pass and a 6-0 lead.
