Sarah Kuehn

MARQUETTE — Senior volleyball player Sarah Kuehn of Northern Michigan University was named the GLIAC North Player of the Week on Monday.

Kuehn, from Green Bay, Wisconsin, led the Wildcats with 24 kills in a pair of league victories on the road over the weekend — a four-set win at Purdue Northwest and three-set sweep at Wisconsin-Parkside — as NMU improved to 10-12 overall and 6-5 and tied for fifth place in the GLIAC.

Kuehn averaged 3.43 kills per set, getting 13 kills vs. PNW and 11 at Parkside. She was on target throughout, committing just one error in 38 attempts for a .605 attack percentage.

On defense, Kuehn accumulated seven digs from her middle blocker position and added four blocks. She’s third in the league with 77 blocks and ranks seventh in school history with 331 in her collegiate career.

Also for the weekend, she averaged almost four points per set, 3.9.

The Wildcats come home for a single match this weekend, but it’s one of the season’s biggest, against Michigan Tech at 4 p.m. Saturday at Vandament Arena.

The game is scheduled to be televised on Grit-TV, channel 192 on Charter cable systems.
