Els leads NMU women’s golf

FINDLAY, Ohio — Senior Caro Els shot the low score for the Northern Michigan University women’s golf team, which finished in 16th place of 17 teams at the William Beall Fall Classic held at the Findlay Country Club on Monday and Tuesday.

Els, from the African country of Namibia, tied for 24th with 235 on rounds of 75, 79 and 81.

The Wildcats totaled 995, seven strokes behind 15th-place Gannon and eight ahead of the final team, Mercyhurst. Indianapolis won the meet with 886, which included meet winner Cailyn Henderson with 216.

Also contributing for NMU were sophomore Abigail Boozer, who tied for 44th with 82-83-78–243; sophomore Gianna Gastrow, tied for 72nd with 87-80-88–255; freshman Taylor Hakala, tied for 81st with 89-92-81–262; and freshman Tiffany Elo, 93rd with 103-105-127–335.

The Wildcats complete their fall season on Oct. 21-22 at the Kohler Classic at the Irish Course near Sheboygan, Wisconsin.
