Marquette Redmen’s Raphael Millado wins high jump at Marinette meet

MARINETTE, Wisconsin — The Marquette girls finished fifth and Redmen boys seventh at the competitive Marinette, Wisconsin, Invitational high school track and field meet held Monday afternoon.

The Redettes scored 76.7 points in the seven-school girls field and the MSHS boys 47 points in the nine-school boys field that included Menominee, which was fourth among the girls and ninth in the boys.

The balance of each field included Wisconsin schools, including girls champion Pulaski and boys titlist Green Bay Bay Port. Also attending was Green Bay Preble, Crivitz, Peshtigo, Seymour and host Marinette.

Marquette’s lone event victory came in the boys meet as Raphael Millado won the high jump by clearing 6-feet-4.

The Redettes had a trio of runners-up — Tellena Nystom was second in the 400-meter dash, Guinn Wuorinen second in the 1,600 and Maria Millado second in the long jump.

The girls team also picked up four third-place finishes — Maria Millado in the high jump, Rachael Hunt in the long jump and Josie Danielkiewicz in the 3,200; along with the 400 relay quartet of Hunt, Millado, Julia King and Spenser Waite.
