Four MSHS baseball players honored

ESCANABA — Four Marquette Senior High School players earned baseball all-league honors when Great Northern Conference coaches voted earlier this week.

The Redmen honored were senior Brendan Kaski at pitcher, junior Jakob Peterson at first base, sophomore Peter VandenAvond in the infield and senior Blake Henriksen as an outfielder.

In all, 22 players and league champion manager Kelly Shea of Gladstone were honored. Shea led the Braves to a perfect 11-0 league record.

The rest of the honorees included pitchers Carson Shea of Gladstone, Jared Hanson and Austin Willette of Escanaba and Andrew Paupore of Kingsford; catchers Tyler Lawson of Escanaba and Cooper Cavadeas of Gladstone; first basemen Jared Crow of Gladstone and Noah Wilcox of Kingsford; infielders Craig Kamin and Grant LaMarche of Escanaba, Zach Hanson and Ian Schwalbach of Gladstone and Luke Terrian of Kingsford; outfielders Hunter Lindeman of Kingsford, Cody Frappier of Gladstone, Josh Bruntjens of Escanaba and Hunter Goldschmidt of Menominee; and utility player Dan Martin of Gladstone.
