MARQUETTE — Northern Michigan University senior Michelle Juergen has been named GLIAC Women’s Field Athlete of the Week.

Juergen got the 2018-19 outdoor track and field season started last weekend with high finishes in the high jump and triple jump at the St. Norbert Invitational in De Pere, Wisconsin.

She posted an NCAA Division II meet provisional qualifying mark in the high jump, clearing 5-feet-6 to win. She also placed second in the triple jump with a leap of 36-5.5.

She finished the indoor season as an All-American in the high jump, taking 10th place at the nationals. She was named the Field Athlete of the Meet at the GLIAC Indoor Championships as well.

The Wildcats return to action Saturday at the Tiffelberg Open, hosted by Tiffin and Heidelberg universities at Tiffin, Ohio. Other members of the NMU team will be at the Hilltoppers Relays at Western Kentucky University.
