Northern Michigan University Wildcats men tie school golf record

GEORGETOWN, Ky. — The Northern Michigan University men’s golf team tied a school record with a two-round total of 586 at the Saginaw Valley State Spring Invitational held in Kentucky last weekend.

The Wildcats’ 291 second round also tied for the second-best round in program history.

Junior Kurtis Fonthinha led NMU with a pair of 71s to tie for 12th with 142, while senior Austin Elsner shot 73-72–145 to tie for 23rd.

Northern senior Logan Haight shot 77-72–149 for a tie for 51st, senior Owen Beyer had 74-78–152 to tie for 74th, and junior Chris Black had 79-76–155 for a tie for 92nd.

The Wildcats finished 10th of 21 teams and were third among GLIAC schools.

NMU returns to Kentucky to play in the GLIAC South Invitational on Sunday and Monday.
