Beyer leads NMU men golfers

LEXINGTON, Ky. — Senior Owen Beyer shot a 7-over-par 151 over two days to lead the Northern Michigan University men’s golf team at the Findlay Spring Invitational that wrapped up Tuesday at the University Club of Kentucky.

Beyer shot rounds of 74 and 77 as he tied for 41st place while the Wildcats were 19th of 22 teams in a talented field.

NMU senior Austin Elsner was just one stroke back at 8-over with 79-73–152 to tie for 52nd, while junior Chris Black was another two strokes higher at 10-over with 79-75–154 to tie for 70th.

Senior Logan Haight just slipped into the top 100, shooting 14-over with 80-78–158 for a tie for 99th, while junior Kurtis Fontinha was at 17-over with 79-82–161 to tie for 111th.

Next up for Northern is the Midwest Regional to be held April 6-8 at Purgatory Golf Course in Noblesville, Indiana.
