Marquette Redmen post 2nd straight boys soccer shutout
MARQUETTE — Marquette scored all it needed in the first half to post a 3-0 shutout of Iron Mountain in a high school boys soccer game played at the Kaufman Sports Complex on Thursday.
First-half goalkeeper Kyle Michelson, a senior, faced four shots on goal and sophomore second-half keeper Liam Jeevar took care of three for the Redmen’s second straight shutout that runs their season record to 5-1.
Raffy Millado broke the scoreless tie and knocked in what proved to be the game-winner as fellow senior Soren Higgins got the assist.
Junior Mack Vezina, on an assist from senior Garrett Zueger, made it 2-0 while junior Trevor Salmon completed the scoring before the first half was over on an assist from senior Harrison Smith.
Next up for Marquette is a game against the Northern Michigan University club team at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Kaufman.
