ASHLAND, Ohio — The Northern Michigan University women’s track and field team completed the GLIAC Championships with 11 all-league honors, two conference champions and an overall third place finish on Friday in Ashland, Ohio.

And NMU head coach Jenny Ryan was named the GLIAC Women’s Track & Field Coach of the Year after her team accumulated 104 1/2 points. The Wildcats’ finish is their best ever in the outdoor conference meet.

Senior Ine Mylle was one of Northern’s champions, earning her fourth league title at NMU by leaping 40 feet, 6.75 inches in the triple jump on Friday, the third day of the three-day meet. She beat out all others by nearly two feet.

A day earlier, senior Kameron Burmeister of Menominee won the 10,000-meter run, her first GLIAC title in a race she won by more than a minute and a half.

Three of their teammates earned All-GLIAC Second Team honors Friday.

Junior Paige Dutcher was runner-up in the 400 in 56.42 seconds, also moving into second place in NMU history with the time.

Junior Shayla Huebner, a Marquette Senior High School graduate, was Second Team with her second-place finish in the 800 in 2:15.19.

And NMU’s 4-by-400 relay got the same league honor as runners-up with Huebner, Dutcher, junior Lynsey Collins and sophomore Sydney McPeters clocking 3:53.23. The same quartet earned Second Team honors during the indoor season, too.

Third Team honors for finishing third on Friday included senior Kieren Becker in the 1,500 in 4:41.80, giving her three All-GLIAC honors at NMU.

Junior Michelle Juergen was third in the high jump in a season-best 5-4.5, while freshman Nina Augsten was third in the 100 hurdles in 13.95.

Other top NMU finishes Friday included the 4-by-100 relay coming in fourth, freshman Annicka McDonald fifth in the 400, junior Jenna Long fifth in the 200 and seventh in the 100, sophomore Katelyn Smith sixth in the 5,000, Becker seventh in the 800 and freshman Megan Evilsizer 18th in the hammer throw.

The Wildcats’ last meet of the regular season is at the Hillsdale Last Chance Meet from Thursday through Saturday. As the name suggests, it’s the final opportunity for athletes to improve their standing in their events for the NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships, which take place May 24-26 in Charlotte, North Carolina.
